October Film Marathon – Day Twenty Eight: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Welcome to my October Film Marathon. Each day I will be watching a Halloween/Autumnal themed film and will be posting a review.

Today is the 28th of October and I will be reviewing one of my all time favourite films, A Nightmare on Elm Street!

From the mastermind that is Wes Craven, comes this slasher classic that completely reinvented the genre. A young girl realises that she has to stay awake at any cost to avoid the clawed killer who is butchering her friends one by one in their dreams. Freddy Krueger, one of the best horror characters, expertly portrayed by Robert Englund, slashes his way onto the scene in this film. Although the effects do seem dated, this film still packs a punch with its sheer genius plot. Johnny Depp makes his debut in this film, giving it even more points! One of my favourite things about this film, is its introduction of what appears to be the final girl, only to find that she is the first to be brutally murdered.
